Leading local company Abcam based on the Cambridge Science Park have introduced an innovative recycling scheme involving the collection of packaging by Cambridge cycling courier Oustpoken Delivery. The scheme is currently being trialed with Cancer Research UK, and if feedback is positive they hope to extend the service to other Cambridge based customers. As an incentive for customers to return the packaging, Abcam will donate £1 for every box returned to local charities.
As a worldwide supplier of life science reagents, Abcam need delivery companies they can trust and depend on for fast and reliable service. They have been using Outspoken Delivery since 2007 for deliveries to customers in and around Cambridge. The majority of Abcam’s products need to be kept cool during transit so they are packed in polystyrene boxes which include an ice pack to keep the temperature low. Outspoken Delivery make a daily visit to collect Cambridge based orders for same day delivery before 12 noon. Now whenever they make a delivery they will collect the packaging for return to Abcam the following day.

In addition Outspoken Delivery also undertake a run between the two Abcam buildings on the Science Park delivering products and internal mail.
