Home Gym Hacks for a Small Condo

So you want to be fit but you don’t want to enroll in a gym because: A) you’re too busy or, B) you just don’t want to workout in a place where there are lots of people. If this is the case, what you need is a home gym. But you’re wondering – how can I fit my exercise equipment in my tiny condo? Montreal condos, like most condos everywhere, are smaller than regular houses, which make it sometimes difficult to organize and put the things you want to have in your home.

Don’t worry – we got you covered. Here are several hacks you can try if you want to set up a home gym:

  1. Set Up Your HQ

You’ll need a white board where you can write down your workout schedules and routines. You can also use a corkboard where you can pin colorful reminders.

  1. Put Mirrors on the Wall

Mirrors are great so you can see yourself when you work out. It also helps you see if you’re making any progress. But aside from these functions, a full-length mirror can also help make your tiny space look bigger.

  1. Create Vertical Storage

You’ll need to have a place to keep your mats, towels, dumbbells, kettle bells, etc. A vertical storage will provide you with the extra space you need.

  1. Consider a Corner Gym

You can have all the space needed to get a good cardio workout. Just have enough space to put your gym equipment/cardio machine and mount a pegboard on a wall where you can hang your gym accessories.

  1. A Hidden Gym is Also a Good Idea

If the only space available is your living room, then obviously you don’t want your weights and bench press equipment to be visible when you have guests coming over. What you can do is put your stuff in an ottoman with wheels or pick those that are foldable so you can easily stow them away when not in use.

  1. DIY Yoga Mat Rack

You need to keep your home gym some place where you can see it all the time. Out of sight, out of mind – as the saying goes. If you do yoga, then create a yoga mat rack where it can be displayed strategically. Make something that looks appealing too so you’ll look forward to your yoga sessions every time you reach home (or before you leave home).

  1. Use Separate Storage

Use storage cabinets and bins that have multiple nooks so you can keep all your gym stuff organized and visible. That way you can easily get the things you need for a particular workout without having to rummage through everything in one bin.

The key to a successful fitness program is consistency. Hopefully, with these simple hacks, you will be able to stick to your schedule and enjoy each and every workout.
