Charity Events Calendar – April 2011

2nd April – ROTARY GALA BALL – St Pancras Renaissance Hotel
The Rotary Clubs of London and Pall Mall and the Rotaract Club of Westminster invite you to a unique opportunity to enjoy a preview of this majestic venue prior to its official opening in May 2011. The evening will be filled with fun, grandeur and be truly a Gala night to remember. The evening commences with a champagne reception followed by a three-course dinner with all drinks throughout the evening, an auction, dancing with carriages at 1am. In aid of charities which include: Hope for Children, Dictionary for Life, End Polio Now, Rotary Foundation, Centrepoint, A.R.M.A.

9th-17th April – GREAT WALL OF CHINA TREK – China
A spectacular and challenging trek along sections of China’s most well-known attraction, the Great Wall. Each day includes a 12k trek through beautiful mountain ranges. There is an option to extend your stay to tour Beijing or visit the terracotta warriors in Xian. Minimum sponsorship of £2,650 required. Price includes flights, food, accommodation and trek. In aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.

9th-18th April – TREK TO MACHU PICCHU – Peru
Experience the world of the lost Incas on a trek to Machu Picchu. This ten-day challenge will put your fitness levels to the test as you trek across the beaten track of the Andes, taking in the breathtaking views from one of the most mystifying and picturesque landmarks in the world and experiencing local Peruvian life along the way. £3,395 minimum sponsorship. Price includes flights, food, accommodation and trek. In aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.

9th April – BLENHEIM SPRING WALK – Blenheim Palace Grounds, Oxfordshire
Walk the beautiful Blenheim Palace grounds to raise money for NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal. There are three distances to choose from: two miles, four and a half miles or eight miles for the seriously fit!

10th April – BRIGHTON MARATHON – Brighton & Hove
The race route for this marathon starts with a loop of gorgeous Preston Park and then takes in the best of the city centre including Brighton Pavilion and fabulous stretches of Coastal Road. In aid of numerous charities including Kidney Research UK, CLIC Sargent, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support & NSPCC

10th April – BIG FUN WALK – East Finchley to Storey’s Gate, London
Annual sponsored 7.5 mile walk through some of London’s most beautiful parks. Sets off from East Finchley station and ends at Storey’s Gate, Westminster with live music and refreshments for the weary walkers. All sponsorship goes towards patient care at North London Hospice.

10th April – PARIS MARATHON – Paris, France
Take on this fantastic marathon and join 35,000 other runners on the streets of historic Paris. In aid of numerous charities including NSPCC

13th April – PRIVATE VIEW OF THE SPRING SALE – Christie’s Auction House, London
A popular drinks and canapé reception in the beautiful surroundings of Christie’s auction house. Guests will have the opportunity to privately view unique and beautiful jewellery, furniture and master paintings featured in the spring sales before they go on view to the general public. There will also be the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes in the grand raffle. In aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The Legal Dinner is one of Co-operation Ireland’s annual fundraising events as well as the premiere social/networking event in the London Legal calendar. The evening includes pre-dinner reception, a four-course dinner and entertainment. 450 guests are anticipated. Dress: Black Tie. In aid of Co-operation Ireland

16th & 17th April – GUYS ABSEIL – Guys Hospital, London
Not for the faint hearted, this 450ft abseil is the highest building you can abseil in London; it’s even higher than the London Eye and has arguably the best views of town. Whether a Londoner or an out of towner the views on the decent are worth their weight in sponsorship gold and not to be missed. With cheerers below spurring you on, this won’t be an experience easily forgotten. With full training and fundraising support, you’ll be ready to take on this challenge with full force, perfect for our photographer to catch you in action as you go over the edge! Minimum sponsorship of £250 if applicable. In aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

17th April – VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON 2011 – London
2011 ballot has now closed. If there’s a charity close to your heart and you’d like to run the 2011 Virgin London Marathon for them, you might be able to secure a charity entry into the race. To apply for a charity place, you’ll need to contact your chosen charity directly and see if they’ve got any places to offer you.

26th-30th – CROATIA CHALLENGE – Croatia.
Following the success of last year’s YN Italian Challenge, join over 50 young professionals on an unforgettable cycling and trekking adventure to raise money for Norwood. £850 minimum sponsorship. Norwood Challenges are unique in that people with learning disabilities participate in events and are given the opportunity to raise money for the charity through sponsorship.

30th April – SPRING STEP SPONSORED WALK – Edinburgh Castle
A family-friendly 5 mile walk to raise awareness of Bowel Cancer during Bowel Cancer Awareness month. All are welcome but please register in advance. 200 participants anticipated. In aid of Bowel Cancer UK.
